When Caryn was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in 2001, she had been coming up on the short end of the “finger stick”. She suffered a stroke, and lost both her legs, all due to complications of diabetes. During one of her hospitalizations, she was introduced to beading and created “Diabeades” handmade jewelry in an effort to help beat out this devastating disease. A $1 donation will be made to the American Diabetes Association from each sale. Sadly, Caryn lost her battle in May 2022. Her family continues her work in her honor in the hope that one day it is diabetes which will be defeated.
